AIM FOR HABITS INSTEAD OF RESOLUTIONS!

The ultimate problem with resolutions is that they’re incredibly generalised, and have nothing to do with effective goal setting. As a result, they’re overwhelming, and constantly seem out of reach - which gets you exactly nowhere.

Instead, Rachel believes in setting yourself up for successfully forming  habits that add up to MASSIVE results!

This is because unlike massive resolutions, habits are small, achievable, repetitive behaviours that we eventually learn to do without any second-guessing. 

By being consistent with the tiniest lifestyle adjustments, you can form all sorts of amazing habits that will come as easily as brushing your teeth in the morning, and yet help you reach the most ambitious goals.

HERE’S HOW TO BREAK BIG GOALS AND RESOLUTIONS INTO SMALL HABITS

#1 KEEP IT SMALL AND SIMPLE

When forming a new habit, your brain will need some convincing to integrate it into your routine. Make it easy by making the steps super simple! 

For example, if you want to work out more in the New Year but haven’t really exercised lately, just aim for 2-3 sessions a week, for 15-20 minutes.

Set calendar events for your planned workouts. When the reminder buzzes, don’t question it, don’t worry about it - just do it 🔥

#2 STAY CONSISTENT WITH TINY CHANGES

While this may seem counter intuitive, the size of your changes doesn’t matter as much as your consistency!

For example, if your only nutrition change is no longer putting sugar in your coffee, and you adhere to this new habit every day - it’s going to have a much greater impact than promising yourself to eat “100% perfectly” and then constantly breaking this promise.

#3 ACKNOWLEDGE THE IMPACT

Don’t forget to look back every now and then, to celebrate just how far you’ve come!

All of a sudden, after a couple of weeks of short biweekly workouts, you’ll find new levels of energy and strength, and will be excited to do even more. 

Drinking those 2L of water daily will become second nature - and not only you’ll get rid of the “dehydration headaches”, it will also feel very weird to forget your water bottle.

And after a year of implementing tiny habits, you will look back at your amazing achievements, smile and excitedly pick new habits to work on!
